July 31, 2015

To our Dear Patients,

It feels like just yesterday we were struck with the tragedy of losing Dr. Blehm and at the same time, it seems as though many years have gone by for all that’s happened here at his office since. First and foremost, thank you for standing by us during this tumultuous time. Darrel cared for all of you deeply and it’s clear that you cared deeply for him too.

Today, with great pleasure, we announce that we have found someone to continue his legacy! As of August 1st, Dr. Brian Fletcher will be our permanent dental care provider and owner. Many of you know Dr. Fletcher as he has been our on-call dentist for the past 7 years. He has also kindly worked here part-time over the past three months while we’ve searched for a new dentist. Not only is Dr. Fletcher skilled at his craft, he is a very caring and gentle soul.

In addition to the services you are used to receiving, Dr. Fletcher is certified to prescribe Invisalign and is licensed for sedating patients during procedures. This is a welcome relief for those who suffer severe anxiety, or are extraordinarily sensitive to dental work.

Our wonderful, dedicated staff has stuck by us and Dr. Fletcher is embracing them as his new team. Peggy and Robin will continue to greet you at the front desk while Connie, Adrienne and Kaye will look after your dental hygiene. Renee remains chairside, working directly with the doctor. In addition to these amazing women you know, there will be a new face; Dr. Fletcher is bringing his current assistant, Julie, to help in the back office.

If you would like to introduce yourself to Dr. Fletcher, he will be available for a meet and greet at the office during his lunch hour, 1:00pm-2:00pm, on both August 20th and September 10th. We welcome you to stop by and make his acquaintance.

There are no words to fully express our gratitude to you our patients, to our staff, to Dr. Aust (who graciously gave up his summer to support us) and to Dr. Fletcher for together being the silver lining during this difficult time. As always, this team remains dedicated to providing the highest quality dental care possible.

Thank you for supporting Dr. Fletcher and the continued opportunity to provide your dental care.

Be well,

Christine, Karen, Benjamin and Joseph Blehm

To our Dear Patients,

Many of you have thoughtfully inquired about what’s happening with the practice, so I wanted to send an update. On April 15th I walked into my father’s office for the first time after his passing — it was one of the most difficult things I have ever done. With incredible support from the staff here, and some gracious dentists in town, we were able to reopen on April 20th.

I have been here every day since, to support our employees and operations while looking for someone to continue my father’s practice. Our search has been fruitful and we look forward to making an announcement in July. Until then, in addition to the staff you already know and love, Dr. Aust and Dr. Fletcher have kindly agreed to continue with us, providing you with high quality dental care.

This interim time has not been without its bumps. Most recently we’ve had difficulty processing some insurance claims. If you receive a letter from your insurance company stating that the National Provider Identifier (NPI) number is invalid, please know that we are aware of the situation and are correcting it. No action is required by you. If you receive other confusing correspondence from your insurance company, please don’t hesitate to give us a ring and we’ll answer your questions. I greatly appreciate your patience and understanding while we figure it out.

At first, caring for my father’s practice felt like an unfair burden, but it’s quickly become an opportunity to be part of his life’s creation. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting quite a few of you — I’ve enjoyed the stories you’ve shared and am touched by your outpouring of kindness and continuing support.

Thank you so much,

Christine Higgins

You are not just patients, you are truly friends.

There are no words to describe how difficult this time has been for all of us. Your continuing kindness and encouragement buoys our spirits and allows us to carry on Dr. Blehm's legacy. With your support, we are here to serve you.

For those who have not heard, it is with great sorrow that we inform you that Dr. Darrel Blehm passed away, due to heart failure, on Monday, April 13th. He was a kind, warmhearted man and a dedicated professional who provided his services in Grand Junction for over three decades.

We, his family, along with his staff, carry on his dedication to your healthcare and the personal, professional, and quality service he always provided.

The friendly faces that you’re used to seeing in the office will remain and we will be bringing in another highly skilled, caring dentist to fill Dr. Blehm’s shoes.

Please bear with us during this transition. We will do our best to make it as swift and smooth as possible. We will post updates here as we know more.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider a contribution to one of his favorite charities:

With utmost gratitude for your years of loyalty and gratefulness for your support during this difficult time, we look forward to continuing to be of service.

Sincerely, Karen, Christy, Benjamin & Joseph Blehm

And Darrel’s work family - Peggy, Robin, Renee, Connie & Adrienne
